On the Brink...

As I head into my final week of radiation, I am sitting on my couch dreaming of a wrap-around porch, a comfortable swing, and warm weather. Some coziness and warmth would do my soul good.

The longer I deal with this thing called cancer the more I want to go after some of my dreams. My job, while important is not my dream. I feel like I am on the brink to start going after what I want.

Spring Break is two weeks away and I am looking forward to it. I am planning on going to Asheville, NC for just a couple of days and staying in a bed and breakfast. I am going to ask questions. I am going to take notes. I am going to journal a lot. I am going to rest. For me, this trip is exciting because running a bed and breakfast has been my dream for so long and now I am going to start figuring out how to begin while at the same time resting and recovering from months of emotional and physical stress.

Good things are ahead.

Please pray that in this final week I will be healed.

Heart Fluttering

If ever there were a piece of jewelry that screamed my name, this would be it.

A pearl. In a nest.

The Vintage Pearl recently re-released this classic piece of theirs. Each one comes out a little differently because they wrap the wiring by hand.

Be still my beating heart...

(By the way, my birthday is April 27th.)

Sunday Evening

Church at CrossPoint, homemade lasagna, snuggling up on the couch, a blanket just out of the dryer, the movie Secretariat ...

A perfect ending to the weekend.

yuck

Sick day.

You know it is bad when you have to call your father to pick up toilet paper, soup, and Sprite.

Back to bed...

Valentine's Day (Part I)

I had the best Valentines Day.

We spent the weekend in Arkansas so once we packed up yesterday morning, we still manage to have time to eat Mexican with J's mom and her fiance. Then, it was a long four hours back to Nashville. The weather was beautiful though. I finished a good little no-brainer book. We stopped for a blended root beer float at Sonic. (yum.) I took a nap. J went a little stir-crazy. Still no break downs, hitchhikers, or sickness which is a big deal for us.

J gave me a really sweet present, but it is unpresentable at the moment so I will share later.

Once home, we got cleaned up. We both clean up rather well if I do say so myself. Then, we headed for a free meal from Cheesecake Factory. J had pulled the manager out of the snow last week, so he was promised a free meal. (Score.) We were told the patio was heated so we opted for that. Heated.... ha. After 30 minutes of still not having placed our order and our shoulders bouncing from our chill, we decided that enough was enough. Cheesecake to go, please. Our cheesecake was free (thank goodness... $22 is a lot for dessert!) and J can still go back for a free meal.

We still wanted dinner so we grabbed a little something to take home.

What, might you ask is in the bag?

Burgers, onion rings, and spicy fries from FatMo's.

After chomping down, we still had dessert...

And all was right in the world.

I do like this man an awful lot. ;)

A Happy Wednesday

How stinkin' cute is this? The best part is that it cost less than $5!

I recently stumbled across a blog called Tatertots and Jello. Jen posts all kinds of DIY shenanigans, giveaways, and happiness. Check out how she made this tray and others!

I see another craft day in my future!

Today celebrates one year of living in my cute little house. That makes me happy. I guess I will be staying another year since I never looked for another place or talked to my landlord. As unsure as I was there for awhile, I really do love this place. It is different enough, cozy enough, and it is on Stockell. Happy 1 year, House! (I thought I might give it a little anniversary gift by finally throwing the Halloween pumpkins away. They are still on my porch! Yuck.)

Today also marks my 600th post on Deeply Rooted on Blogger. I have been blogging for almost 12 years now and have written about my life on Expage, Xanga, Wordpress, and Blogger. I came to Blogger while I was living in China because Xanga slipped into the Chinese censored black hole and Blogger and I have been happy ever since. Maybe a little updating to the site? I do have a snow day tomorrow.

All of this happiness is almost more than I can take, but there is Thai Peanut Chicken goodness in my crockpot, a bottle of Pisgah Brewery Vortex (thanks Josh!) in my fridge, Law and Order SVU episode to finish, snow on the ground, and a boyfriend who should be home with a movie in hand soon so I guess I have a little more happiness to soak up tonight.

Happy Wednesday!

Etsy Shop

Because I love all things homemade and pretty, I decided to set up an Etsy shop in order to help cover my doctors costs and raise money for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day. I will add at least one thing new each week.

Thanks to Lauren who made the wonderful logo! You can also check out her Etsy shop. She is briererows.
