Beautiful Things

Sang this song at church tonight. In my mind, lots of scenes flashing before me. Beautiful things that God placed in my life and that have come from my life.

He's Still Working On Me

On Saturday, I had lunch with a friend who mentioned a childhood song that had become her mantra.

"He's still working on me
To make me what I need to be
It took him just a week to make the moon and stars
The sun and the Earth and Jupiter and Mars
How loving and patient he must be
Cause he's still working on me."

This song has popped into my head at least a dozen time since our lunch. Interesting at how this applies at age 5 and 27 and I imagine will still ring true at age 80.

Thanks ER for sharing!

Breaking Habits

So I have this habit...

When I get stressed I cut my hair. Not every haircut comes from stress, but it is a good indicator.

If I had not just gotten my haircut last week (not stress induced) then yesterday I would have. It wasn't a bad day, but I have a lot on my plate right now. There was and is a lot of praying going on.

This morning after I hit snooze 3 times (and to think I use to just bound out of bed!), I managed to roll over, grab my Good Book, wipe the sleep out of my eyes enough to read.

“Strength and dignity are her clothing, And she smiles at the future.”
(Proverbs 31:25)

Talk about something for me to take to heart.

It's going to be a different kind of day. :)

1 Thess. 4:11-12

Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life
to mind your own business
and to work with your hands,
just as we told you,
so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders
and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
-1 Thess. 4:11-12 (NIV)

Jeremiah 9:23-24

This is what the Lord says:
"Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom
or the strong man boast of his strength
or the rich man boast of his riches,
but let him who boasts boast about this:
that he understands and knows me,
that I am the Lord,
who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,"
declares the Lord.
-Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NIV)

Something to meditate on this week.
